1.Too much pressure is not goodLiu Xiang is under enormous pressure. He is expected to deliver China's only gold-medal in the track and field event in the Beijing Olympics. He won at the Athens Games four years ago, and held the 110m hurdles record until Cuban athlete Dayron Robles broke that record by 0.01 seconds. The only thing they are stingy with is to give the kids a break - mentally. Many people in China do not seem to realize that pressure in the form of talks work to only a certain extent and for certain people. Beyond that, adverse effects start to kick in. Kids are by nature rebellious, and too much pressure will only intensify their defiance.Do not turn Liu into another loser. Do not make the terrible mistake of pressuring him till he buckles. Cheer him if he wins; comfort him if he loses. Whatever the result, he is our pride.Liu xiang, although you have lost, in my opinion, you are always the best!2.Liu Xiang was the first Asian to win the men’s 110 m hurdles at the Olympic Games in Athens. After that he became an idol to the young people. When Liu Xiang crossed the finish line far ahead of the other players, in a world record—equaling time of 12.91 seconds, many fans burst into tears. It was Liu’s first Olympics and he won the gold medal. “I never thought I could run under 13 seconds.” said Liu in tears, “This is a wonder. It is an amazing experience being the Olympic champion. I want to thank my coach and my friends for all their help.” When Liu was a grade four student in a primary school, he was chosen by the Junior Sports School of Putuo District in Shanghai to practicing jumping. In 1998 when Liu Xiang, aged 15, met the famous coach Sun Haiping, his career changed greatly. Sun believed Liu Xiang was a rising star and after visiting Liu’s parents several times, finally he persuaded them to let Liu practice the 110 m hurdles. Liu Xiang broke the 110m hurdles world record on July 12th in 2006. He became the centre of a media circus again. But Liu thinks this is not his end, he can run faster, and he expects to be at his peak in the summer games in Beijing in 2008. Liu Xiang said, “For some players, it’s just a job. For me, it’s what I love.”3.As a child, Liu Xiang was a high jumper until his sports school asked him to give up the event because a bone test showed that he would not grow tall enough to become a world-class jumper. He began training as a hurdler in 1998. In 2002 Liu broke Renaldo Nehemiah's 24-year-old world junior record for the 110m hurdles. The following year he earned a bronze medal at the World Championships of Athletics and stamped himself as a medal contender for the 2004 Olympics, although he was not considered a favourite for the gold. However, in the final, Liu's technique was nearly perfect as he barely touched the sixth hurdle and cleared all of the others cleanly. He powered to a victory of almost three metres. In so doing, he tied the 11-year-old world record of 12.91 seconds. Liu was the first Chinese man to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics. Only 21 years old at the time of his victory, Liu vowed to defend his title when the Olympics come to Beijing in 2008.Liu Xiang (Simplified Chinese: 刘翔, pinyin: Liú Xiáng) (born July 13, 1983 in Shanghai, China) is a hurdling athlete. In 2002, Liu launched his career in fine style by winning the first IAAF Grand Prix in Lausanne with a world youth and Asian record time of 13.12 seconds in the 110 metres hurdles.4.Born in the 1980s, Liu Xiang is one of the best athletes in our country. He is good at running and 110 meters hurdles. He is even the most capable hurdler in the world. He keeps the best record of 12.88 seconds until now. No one has the ability to break it so far. Among lots of TV programmes, I like the sport games best. And the 110 hurdles races are the most exciting games in them. Everytime I see Liu Xiang running in the track, shouting wildly after the races, I find myself is full of passion in my heart. Especially, the moment when he gets the first prize on the stage,I can't help applauding for his excellent performance. I am deeply moved by his spirit and his great ambitions. The sports spirit of Liu Xiang also inspires me a lot in my life and study. As a young man, Liu Xiang is the best example of making every effort to develop his sport career and break so many records, though he has got many medals now.I think this spirit is worth to learned by all of us. With this ambition, we could defeat any difficulties in our lives and works. Affected by his restless soul, I will never give up and insist my ideals. As one of his fans, I hope that Liu Xiang could do well in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and win more gold medals for our country. I support him forever in my heart. As for myself, I will work as hard as him to make more progress in my study. He has since made the finals at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics and IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics (twice); two of the three cases has seen American hurdling great Allen Johnson take the major prize, but in the last in May at Osaka, Liu managed to beat Johnson with an Asian-record time of 13.06 seconds.Still young, Liu has improved steadily, and won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the 110 meters hurdles event. In the final, he equaled the world record of 12.91 seconds held since 1993 by Colin Jackson of Wales. This is the first time an athlete of non-African descent has dipped under 13 seconds for the 110 meter hurdles
