I hear [that] my heart is beating lighter than ever.到底是lighter 还是slighter。你说原文是lighter，你的问题里是slighter。不管是那个词，你是到底哪儿不明白？ 是语法，还是这句话的含义？语法没错，含义要靠自己理解， 多读几遍就好了。

Yes,I think it is ok.The author's feeling is from hungry,the food shortage made the author suffer much so as to affect his health.
