Employee unfriendly image
Wal-Mart de Mexico's follows various operational processes in line with its parent company, US-based Wal-Mart Stores. In recent years, Wal-Mart Stores has been accused of adopting emplyee unfriendly behaviour. In one of the recent events (December 2005), a California jury ordered the retail giant to pay $172 million to workers for denying the emplyees lunch breaks. This negativity is likely to affect the brand image of Wal-Mart de Mexico as well. An employee undriendly image would make it difficult for the company to attract and retain talented staff, which may put it at a competitive disadvantage.
