Descriptive Statistics
Descriptive statistics for the categorical variables appear in Table 2. Most respondents were 30 to 35 years old (24.9%), followed by 42 to 47 (20.8%), and 36 to 41(19.4%). Overall, 65.1% of the sample was between 30 and 47 years old. There were more females (54.5%) than males (45.5%). In terms of educational attainment, most of the sample (58.1%) had obtained a master’s degree, with an additional 28.1% having earned only a bachelor’s degree.
Respondents provided written descriptions of their job titles, which were grouped into four categories: general managers (18.8%), owners/CEOs (12.2%), information technology managers (10.9%), and other (58.1%) After creating scores for each of the three leadership dimensions as measured by the MLQ 5X (Bass & Avolio, 1990), respondents were grouped based on which leadership style was most dominant for them,resulting in the following group representations: transformational (78.0%), transactional(19.2%), and nonleaders (2.9%). Descriptive statistics for the continuous variables are presented in Table 3.
