I had a friend try on the suit who is 5'5" and 130 lbs. It fit everywhere but was a little long at the bottom of the legs. Once it was pulled over the ski boots, it was fine. Not loose in the crouch & shoulders which is where I would be concerned with in buying a smaller size. Hope this helps. As to the padding, I don't know the technology. Just that it has a lot of thick padding.
