One day Mrs Wilson had an unpleasant time at her home . She bought some meat, washed it and wanted to store it in her freezer (冷藏箱). While her hands were wet, she opened the freezer and tried to move some things in it. She wanted to make a space for the meat . Her wet hand touched the side of the freezer and immediately stuck (粘住) to it . Shepulledhard but found that her hand was stuck firmly to the inside of the freezer. She stopped pulling when she discovered that if she continued to do so, she would tear all the skin off her hand .
Mrs Wilson shouted to her husband, who was watching TV in the living-room. He could not believe his eyes when he saw his wife. He tried to pull her hand away gently butfailed . He immediately turned off the electricity to the freezer. Then he quickly got a sponge (海绵) and some warm
water . He sponged his wife’s hand with warm water.
Slowly each finger came away from the side lf the freezer. After a few painful minutes, Mrs Wilson pulled her hand away from the freezer. Her husband continued to sponge her hand with water until she could move her fingers normally. Her hand was 63
hurt. It ached (疼) for a few days. And then it gradually became better.
“Well,” she told her husband, “Thank you very much but that’s something I won’t do again . I was warned not to touch the freezer with wet hands ------ and now I know why .”
