为什么不能用howmany howmuch的疑问词来问？能写明原因最好，谢谢！

what's the population ofshandong province =how many people are there in shangdong province两个固定问句

population =the number the people
population人口数量只是数字而已，,不是表示量的多少,

不能，因为是问population（人口数量），只能用What问
