1.0 Subject: Raw Material Traceability for UL File Components
2.0 Purpose: Provide an acceptable methodology for satisfaction of Underwriter's
Laboratory requirements for raw material traceability.
3.0 Reference:
3.1 Underwriter's Laboratories requires traceability of raw materials through the
manufacturing process.

4.0 Definitions: A UL File Component is any component specifically identified in
the Whirlpool end product UL File.
5.0 Instructions:
5.1 The engineering drawing is the prime specification source and has precedence
over all other engineering specifications.
5.2 All storage or shipping containers with UL File Components produced by:
? A Whirlpool manufacturing division, or
? A vendor
must be marked to comply with this specification.
5.3 The raw material manufacturer's name and compound number must be marked on one
of the following locations:
? the part, or
? the storage container, or
? on an accompanying specification sheet placed in each shipping container.
5.4 This specification shall be referenced on engineering drawings for UL File
Components.
