FAQ 1.2 Wilcom SP2 (Making it work on Vista)
1. Install Wilcom 2006 and then restart
- After restart if you dont plan to work with design database you could use:
"services.msc" command to stop/disable SQLSERVERAGENT, MSSQLSERVER
"msconfig"to stop/disable Service Manager (SQLMANGR.EXE)
(these itens are incompatible with windows vista too)
2. Install Wilcom 2006 SP Update and then restart
3. Using "Serial Reader" or TOROEmulatorUtility
(RIGHT CLICK IT AND SELECT FROM MENU "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR")
- Press "Install Emulator"
- Press "Get & Save LockIDs" and save the file for further use
- Press "Uninstall Emulator" (click on uninstall.reg if you use Serial Reader)
IMPORTANT DONT LEAVE THIS EMULATOR INSTALLED, IF YOU CLICK AGAIN IN "Get & Save LockIDs" and it gives you another LockID that means the emulator is still on.
4. Using TOROActivatorGenerator.exe press "Generate for Wilcom 2006" and select the saved ID and save TORO_57FD245C.hasp on a place for further use. After that copy it to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32. (it will ask a few times about administration rights, just accept)
IMPORTANT DO NOT TRY TO SAVE DIRECTLY TO C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 on Vista. IT WILL NOT WORK.
5. Inside VirtualHaspUsb folder double click on "Wilcom.reg" and accept when it shows a message box. After that run a DOS window and
change dir to VirtualHaspUsb folder. and then type the folowing command.(all at once and then press enter without "")
"devcon install vusbbus.inf root\vusbbus"
I WAS UNABLE TO INSTALL THIS EMU USING THE BATCH FILE PROVIDED.
6. Inside UsbFilter there's a file AladdinUsbFilter.sys, copy it to
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and double click USBFILTER.reg provided with tutorial and then RESTART.
7. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS uninstall UsbFilter and then VirtualHaspUsb and do step 5 and 6 again if error persists uninstall usbFilter and and then VirtualHaspUsb and do steps 3 to 6 again.
check if you have deactivate "Serial Reader" or TOROEmulatorUtility and if you have Wilcom SP2 installed or if you have any hasp tool. You could download HASP HL driver from www.aladdin.com too. RESTART AT ANY UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL
8. SOME PEOPLE CANT SEE TO MAKE WORK DESIGNER EXPLORER TO WORK!!! SO INSTALL DESIGNER WORKSHOP IT WILL WORK . JUST START IT AFTER YOU GOT WILCOM 2006 RUNNING. YES IS THAT SLOW TO START (HARDLOCK LOCKID SEEMS TO MAKE IT SLOW TO START WILCOM)
9. HAVE FUN USING WILCOM 2006 ON VISTA.
NOTES : WILCOM WILL ONLY WORK ON THE PC THAT HAS GENERATED SERIAL FOR
If it dont work, you can mess with windows registry deleting any reference to aladdin and HASP, HASP HL on registry. But that is risk. For example deleting the whole key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}]
and [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\AladdinUsbFilter]
and all usb devices on device manager. DO THIS AT YOUR RISK. Prefer reinstall windows.
