"NO,I didn't mean that,"said the old man ."I ___ that you would soon get used to being poor and to having no friends"
A.mean
B.meant
不是说人讲话的句子用一般现在时吗?为什么这里选B?

你看到前面的I didn't mean that的didn't说明他mean这个动作发生在过去，一样的 后面这句的mean和I didn't mean that是同一个mean 所以用meant...

B关键词would，如果选A，那么这儿应该用will，而这儿是 would，所以要用meant。...

与前面的NO,I didn't mean that对应句意是我当时并不是那个意思，我当时是想说……都是在解释过去的事情...
