TOPIC:People are happier when they have pressure (or competition) in their jobs and schoolwork than when they have easy work?
Agree or Disagree?
Some, holding the opinion that carefree life is one of our ultimate goals for us to look for, claim that we will probably be more gratified if there only exit effortless work. I concede this opinion. However, in my view, the requirement for competition with pressure benefit us as well, especially considering the satisfactory of achieving goals and the self-improvement of the struggling process.
It is always top of the list of my argument that courage and ambition to succeed are always a must for us. As we know, lying in the fact is that everyone is competing for the limited resources. The impossibility to avoid all of the comparison and competition both in life and study urges us to face with them courageously. What we should do is setting our goals and trying to accomplish them step by step. Each improvement in this journey will bring us the pleasure of self- fulfilling. It is also said by Plato that happiness is just the thing that comes to you when you are busy doing something, paying no attention to anything else.
It constitutes another reason for my point of view that competition and pressure with it can stimulate us to improve ourselves to be stronger and tougher. We tend to be easily content with our own work if there exists no comparison with others. But after comparing with our colleagues or classmates, we can easily find our shortcomings and learn more from others and aviate our own life better. How can we judge one's position if he/she is not evolved in a queue? No wonder that over 100 studies carried out in 200 companies in the US in 2008 have revealed that corporations with a reasonable assessment of staff's work would function more efficiently.
On the other hand, it is very important to take that assert too far. Competitions and pressure are not always beneficial for people's happiness when it comes to the healthy harm that pressure brings to us. Too much heavy pressure will result in people's disorder mentally and physically. So unloading the emotional baggage help us work better.
Judging from all the evidence offered above, we can arrive at this conclusion that competition and pressure which are unavoidable can bring us happiness and practical benefits if they are treated correctly and properly. But at the same time, excessive pressure, which may cause direct troubles for people, should also be alarming and released.
