教育信息生态系统是研究教育信息化建设和信息化教育应用中教育信息、人、教育信息环境三者之间相互作用过程、规律及其整体生态平衡的。它是从生态视角透视教育信息系统，探讨在教育信息化进程中人、信息和信息环境之间相互作用关系与活动的自组织、自适应的系统。当系统内某一要素发生变化时就有肯能引起生态失衡，为了使教育信息生态系统内的物质和能量畅通的循环和流通，就要实时协调控制各要素，从而保障教育信息的创造，传播，获得和使用达到最优化，保障社会的和谐可持续发展。
