Mid—autumn Festival
To many Chinese people the Mid—autumn festival is important. It usually comes in September or October. This year it comes in September the twenty—first.
On Mid—autumn Festival Evening, many shops sell mooncakes, they are small round cakes with hot days, eggs, nuts or something sweet inside. They look like the moon on Mid—autumn Day. Many people buy some mooncakes for the Mid—autumn Festival. On that day families usually eat a big dinner! At night, families often stay outside in the open air and celebrate the full moon. The moon looks brighter and rounder on this day. People often eat the mooncakes and tell the story of Chang'e.
Thanksgiving Day is like our Mid—autumn Day. It also comes in autumn. But they are different. On Thanksgiving Day, people in America celebrate the harvest. On Mid—autumn Day people celebrate the bright round moon. On Thanksgiving Day families usually eat the pies pumpkin. They taste a little like our mooncakes.
I think some things are the same in China, America and Canada. Each of Chinese people likes Mid—autumn Festival very much. |
