CRM right now is very hot. Peoplesoft and SAP both set up a new department to develop this kind of package. CRM is different with ERP, which is focus on the online, customer-oriental, instant requirement.
Siebel has a office in Shanghai.

SCM(Supply Chain Manage) and CRM ,also ERP,r for enterprise.
They rsome kinds of Big software , not like the main part of microsoft's products ,r for personal users.
U will not be an expert if u havn't got a chance to get f**ked with them. Generally speaking, all of those enterprise software need a team ,whose function is just like lubricant in ur f**king,to implement themselves.U must let the virtual business logic of the software become the really one in your true business.The implementation team do that job.
So the first step is to be lubricant in the f**king-- the team-mate of any Consulting Company.
If (u r an IT man:=programmer or DBA)
u can be a Technical Consultant;
else
if ( u r an experienced man in Financials,Sales,Manufacture)
u can be a Functional Consultant;
end
u r a green hand and u should try ur luck.
end
F**king is a happy job,consultant is also a happy one on the salary.

As yoxnja said, all ERP programe are huge package. We can analyze ERO programe from different standpoints. One is technology standpoint. Actually, if you r a technologist, you just install software, and adjust systme. I installed SAP R/2 security programe and PeopleSoft before. But I don't have enough experience to reach all parts of this SAP or PeopleSoft.
But, from business standpoint, you would find the ERP package would change your business structure or your business model. This is why SAP has totally different ERP package for different industries, such as oil, manfacutre, e-business.
In Northe American, PeopleSoft is very propular in HR and finance also.
Therefore, students from MBA and computer science all can work in ERP area. If you don't have enough business background, you can use your technological background to entry this industry firstly and then make decision which area you are really interested. The salaries is very high. In China, if you work in one of Big 5 consulant company as ERP(SAP or Oracle) consulant, the salary should be over 20-30k/m.
You can read some Supply Chain, ERP books. Do you check files in smiling?

I just check your personal information. You stay in North American right now. If you really interested in ERP, you should realize ERP consultant position ask you have strong business background and communication skill.
Rectently, ERP jobs in North American is not very hot because all big companies already applied ERP now.
Anyway, this is just my personal opinions.
