about lock? what should a dba do?

Hi, there,
It seems that locks a very complex strategy to ensure the concurrency of your db.
Butwhat need to be involved as a dba? I have not seen any case that require dba to do anything, only theory..
Can any experienced dba give some working knowledge or example ?

In case of a dead lock happened, the DBA has to intervene to kill one of the session.

比如一个（错误）sessoion说用Exclusive模式锁住了一个重要的表，导致许多别的进程都无法DML，就需要考虑杀掉这个进程。
就需要查处这个Lock标的进程，杀掉他。
