Is it the function ?

LENGTH returns the length of char in characters. If char has datatype CHAR, the length includes all trailing blanks. If char is null, this function returns null.
Example
SELECT LENGTH('CANDIDE') "Length"
FROM DUAL;

Length
-----------
7
