Oracle 9iApplication Server is oracle's solution to build dynamic web sites and internet applications using Oracle HTTP server powered by Apache, java, Forms services, internet File System, Portal, webcache, discoverer.
All Exchanges now use iAS1.0.2.2. The jserv and iFS are part of the iAS installation. So starting and stopping of Apache includes starting of jserv and iFS as well.
How do I start it ?
Use the script apstart.sh under the APACHE_TOP nstallation under bin. Assume as the user the apache has to start.
Eg. APACHE_TOP for 621cert is /d1/dbf/iAS1.0.2.2/exch on apsun box
cd /d1/dbf/iAS1.0.2.2/exch/bin
startap.sh
How do I stop it ?
Use stopap.sh under the bin directory of APACHE_TOP after asumming the user which started the apache.
How do I check whether it is running or not ?
User apcheck.sh under the bin directory after assuming the user which started the apache.
Which tier it runs on ?
Middle tier
Where can I get the logs for this ?
Logs are under the log directory under APACHE_TOP/logs.
How many log files we have for this ?
The following log files should be found under the log directory of the APACHE_TOP
access_log
error_log
jserv.log
exchange_jserv.log
ifslog.log
ifs_jserv.log
Can I set a trace or debug for this ?

Most Frequently Occurring problems,cause & remedy
1.Cannot access the home page
Check the logs. If the error_log has address already in use, then we need to stop the process which uses this address and restart the server.
Check to see if your are able to connect to the database
The display server which is the set to ap406pc in jvm1.properties may not be accessible.Change the display to a local pc and start the server
