我在metalink上找了一些资料算是总结:
hat's the Difference Between 7 bit, 8 bit and Unicode Charactersets? --------------------------------------------------------------------A 7 bit characterset only knows 128 symbols (2^7) An 8 bit characterset knows 256 symbols (2^8) Unicode (UTF8) is a multibyte characterset. The latest version of the Unicode standard (3.1) defines 94,140 encoded characters. Unicode has the capability to define over a million characters .Oracle has several revisions of the Unicode standard implemented during the years: AL24UTFFSS (unicode version 1.1) Introduced in V7 and now obselete. UTF8 (unicode version 2.0) introduced in V8. AL32UTF8 (unicode version 3.1) introduced in V9.

如果是oracle8i,选择utf8是最合适了,对吗?
