Application Software Job Summary:
Develop, program, support and maintain applications, including review and enhancements to current in-house developed software.
Essential Job Functions:
* Design, install, configure, maintain, monitor, and support systems and applications.
* Provide support and troubleshooting on system and application related issues.
* Respond to escalated applications and programming problems.
* Assist with definition of requirements for enhancements and/or new programs and applications, test, implement and deploy.
* While assigned one or more projects, provide training and guidance to lower level personnel.
- Support the data warehouse operations and tasks, performing extraction, movement, loading, archival, and security of data files as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
* Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
* Eagerness to learn.
* Willingness to work hard.
* Ability to communicate issues and recommend solutions in a timely manner to Management.
* Strong decision making abilities.
* Understanding of the evaluation and justification of "make versus buy"
decision process.
* Ability to learn and master new applications and programming languages.
* Experience developing new application systems for production.
Qualifications:
* BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
* Experience with Unix, Perl, PHP, Relational DBMS
* Experience in developing large-scale, highly available,
high-performance systems.
* The desire to work in a multi-project, highly visible central
organization.
* Ability to work in an interrupt-driven multi-tasking environment.
* Effective at working across organizational boundaries.
* The ability to excel both technically and professionally.
* Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and innovation to drive
breakthrough solutions to fruition.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a distributed
team environment.
* Strong analytical and problem solving background

* Experience using Open Source Tools
