Engineering Manager (Core Engine)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Core Engine (CE) is a BEA internal project providing a modular development environment to enable all BEA products leveraging the micro Services Architecture (mSA). CE is a fast-moving, dynamic project requiring frequent and short release cycles. The CE infrastructure uses OSGi technology for the mSA backplane. Ongoing development work includes development and enhancement of tools and utilities, integration of common components from various producer teams, and integration of open source components. This position is a member of the China R&D management team who coordinates and schedules development tasks and deliverables for ongoing CE work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
?Work with US managers to define project plans
?Manage development deliverables and resources per project plan
?As local lead for the relevant programs, participate in regular status meetings with US team to discuss issues
?Hold technical review meetings with local team to ensure that issues with functional, design and test specifications are surfaced, discussed and resolved
?Hold regular one-on-one meetings with local team members to try and resolve any issues that they are facing in their day-to-day work or personal lives, keep them motivated and highly productive, and convey to them the latest developments in the company
?Organize trainings for specific technology areas for the local team
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
?BS/MS Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
REQUIREMENTS:
?Strong verbal and written English communications skills
?2 or more years of project management experience
?2 or more years of people and team management experience
?3 or more years of commercial software development experience on UNIX and Windows
?Experience with agile software developmentand testing processes
DESIREABLE KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS
?Experience with OSGi
?Knowledge of enterprise Java architecture
?Knowledge of internet technology and concepts (e.g. XML, SOAP, SSL, SAML, Tomcat, Spring)
