Sorry Cannot type Chinese, any new ideas or suggestions?
The Court Business Solutions Branch has undertaken a major project to shut down a legacy case management system (programmed in Cobol) and migrate it's data to an existing and more modern web-based case management system (programmed in Oracle).The legacy system has the following types of data tables:
?
Case Types:cases are administered under a different set of rules for criminal cases, civil cases, family cases and small claims court cases;
?
Parties: contact information for each individual that is involved in each type of case (lawyers, individuals, judges, police);
?
Schedule: time of day and the room where the cases will be heard;
?
Forms: standard court documents sent to each party to tell them about approaching milestones in their case
?
Decisions: the written outcome of the cases written by the judges that hear the cases
During the initial analysis it was found that the Oracle-based system had all of the same data tables as the legacy system with one exception - the decisions table.From discussions with users it was discovered that the decisions were also made available on the internet.This is a feature that was not available at all in the Oracle-based system.A key success factor of the migration project was the ability to replicate the functions of the legacy system.A key constraint on the project was that the cost of operating the system could not cost anymore after the migration than it did before the migration.
You have recently joined the Court Business Solutions Branch as the Database Administrator and your first assignment is to plan, design and manage the migration of data and functionality from the legacy system to the modern system.You are making a presentation is to be made to a senior mangers’ committee recommending an approach that (at a minimum) demonstrates the following:
?
the database architecture
?
how the databases will be managed during the migration process
?
how will the accuracy of the process will be validated
?
how will new functionality be accommodated without increasing costs
?
Hardware and software resources/tools that will be used
?
Pros and cons of the proposed approach
