Job Purpose:Be Responsible for the design, configuration, optimization, monitoring and maintenance of hardware and software in order to ensure optimum performance in support of the IT environment.Duties and Responsibilities:o
Primarily assist with supporting Wintel on-call work and ongoing projects in North America.Some afterhours (non-business hours) work is required.o
Implements, maintains, customizes, supports and tests of components within the assigned technical area o
Ensures the overall effectiveness of components within the technical area assigned and proactively evaluates, recommend and implement cost effective improvements that will increase utility, functionality, and/or effectiveness of said components o
Provides assistance, training and mentoring to junior staff members and, as directed, to selected individuals or groups within the company o
Provides actual or evaluates suggested hardware/software configurations pertinent to the assigned technical area o
Provides evaluation of proposals and/or projects pertinent to the incumbents assigned technical area o
Responsible for the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of ongoing performance and capacity of components within the assigned technical area in order to ensure the business needs are met. Proactively recommends enhancements as they pertain to thearea(s) based upon known capabilities and projected future demands within the technical areas. Manages the implementation of defined solutions o
Assists in the evaluations of hardware and software technology against existing, future and anticipated needs. Proactively recommends enhancements to the computing environment in order to provide cost effective solution to problems or processes o
Provides a high level of technical consultation, technical expertise and technical support for internal and/or external projects Knowledge and Skills:Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of: o
Windows Server 2008 Serversupport in an enterprise, multi-domain, multi-forest environment. Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2012 knowledge desirable as well.o
Techniques of a high degree of proficiency (senior) for the installation, maintenance, customization, monitoring, and testing of components within the targeted technical area(s) of expertise o
Evaluation techniques for hardware and/or software offerings as they pertain to the assigned technical area o
Companies IT Environment, its hardware, software and network components and the relationship of the componentso
Excellent written and verbal English skills that will be used to communicate to technical and non-technical coworkers.
Applies senior level Skill in: o
Problem solving, including debugging complex, multiple component software system and component software interactionsApplies intermediate level skill in: o
Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.)o
NetApp filers running CIFS protocol using SnapMirroro
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Operations Manager (SCOM)o
Windows Server Failover Clustering Experienceo
Server hardware experience with HP ProLiant and IBM xSeries servers in an enterprise.o
Understanding of Microsoft BitLocker and other encryption technologieso
Presentation and research skills desirableWork Experience Requirements:o
3-4 years of experience in system support activities in a large system environment o
Demonstrated expertise in targeted technical area(s) of expertise Education and Certification(s):A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent can be used in place of two years of experience
