Job Title:Storage and Backup Services Engineer
Job Purpose
? Maintain “state-of-the-art” and flexible storage infrastructure
? Technical implementation of storage/backup projects
? Pro-active storage provisioning.
? MA contracts and licenses management in the area of expertise
? Maintain quality documentation (SOP, WI, OM documents) in the area of expertise
Major Accountabilities
? Work with global SBS team and be aligned with global standard to manage storage and backup environment.
? Operate & maintain leading-edge heterogeneous network storage infrastructure (SAN & NAS)
? Operate & maintain backup infrastructure which include multiple master & media servers
? Pro-active storage provisioning for all Shanghai researchers. Be deeply involved into the hardware/software procurement process in the responsible area by good interaction with related internal departments.
? Support different storage and backup vendors (EMC , NetApp, ISILON, IBM, Symantec, F5)
? Follow Novartis ITIL process to organize maintenance and handle incidents.
? Maintain storage Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) & Working Instructions (WI) and all relevant documents for Quality Management
? Support and Implement Disaster Recovery solutions in the area of expertise
? Support technical storage & backup projects such as data migration & hardware lifecycle
? Manage advanced storage tools for centralized operations, monitoring & reporting
? Provide storage report on-request using existing storage management tools and processes
? Provide technical expertise to other NIBR system administrators and IT architects
? Increase security capabilities and mitigate risks applying security baseline
Key Performance Indicators / Success Factors
? Achieve agreed targets in terms of quality, time and cost.
? Ensure stable and well performing system environment.
? Apply professional competencies to administrate and optimize the assigned system environment.
? Implement levels of best practice (price / performance etc.).
JOB DIMENSION
? Member of a global team of ~20 system administrators
? Member of a local team of ~3 system administrators
? Infrastructure deployed on all NIBR sites globally
Ideal Background
? Bachelor degree in computer science or relevant fields
? Minimum 3 years’ experience in area of enterprise storage environments management
? Familiar with storage products and technologies: NetApp FAS, ISILON IQ, EMC-CX, SAN Fabric Switches, F5/ARX File Virtualization
? Be familiar with backup solution such as Symantec NetBackup or EMC Networker, Data Domain or De-Duplication solutions
? Knowledge of IT service Management as acquired through certification or work experience
? Fluent in English
