所谓舍利子为个人修行成就之结晶,原来舍利子称为舍利,后来才称为舍利子。舍利原是印度语译为(设立罗)....等各种不一之名称,其意义为“遗留物”或“灵骨”。舍利子不完全经由火化而得。 舍利子的形成和做善事没有关系,主要是和生活习惯有关系,但是你做善事会长寿,这很重要.长期使用某一种食物,其中的某些元素在体内出现沉积,火化的时候受热就形成了各种各样的结晶。 舍利子印度话叫做驮都,也叫设利罗,译成中文叫灵骨、身骨、遗身。是一个人往生,经过火葬后所留下的结晶体。不过舍利子跟一般死人的骨头是完全不同的。它的形状千变万化,有圆形、椭圆形,有成莲花形,有的成佛或菩萨状;它的颜色有白、黑、绿、红的,也有各种颜色;舍利子有的像珍珠、有的像玛瑙、水晶;有的透明,有的光明照人,就像钻石一般。 白色的舍利子是骨骼的,黑色舍利子是属于头发的,红色的舍利子是肌肉的,也有绿色或五色班斓的舍利子。 经上说,舍利子是一个人透过戒、定、慧的修持、加上自己的大愿力,所得来的,它十分稀有、宝贵。像佛陀涅盘后,所烧出的舍利就有一石六斗之多,在当时有八个国王争分佛陀舍利,每人各得一分舍利,他们将佛的舍利带回自己的国家,且兴建宝塔,以让百姓瞻仰、礼拜。另外,修行有成就的高僧及在家信徒,往生后也都能得到舍利。如中国的六祖惠能,近代的弘一、印光、太虚、章嘉等大师们,他们都留下相当数量的舍利。 舍利的种类,一般分有全身舍利、碎身舍利。全身舍利是不需经过火葬,而全身不会腐烂,这种就叫做全身舍利,也叫肉身菩萨;碎身舍利,则是火葬后的遗骨。但也有一些舍利不是由人体变成的,如从天上、地下跑出来,或由油灯里生出,或由花朵生出的,还有一种是诚心供奉礼拜求得,舍利之中再生出舍利子的。而在《浴佛功德经》将舍利分为:一、生身舍利,又称身骨舍利,是佛的遗骨;二、是法身舍利,又称法颂舍利,是指佛所遗的教法、戒律。 舍利子的各种现象都表明不可能是结石,结石主要成分是钙质或金属盐沉积,形态和水垢相似,也很易碎,这些东西在高温下都会变成粉末状的的氧化物。结石病人数以千万,但只有修行者才会有舍利子。大德的舌头,心等没有骨质的软组织也可火化不坏形成舍利子.连念佛鹦鹉的舌头也能成舍利。何况体内结石数量及其小,否则会危及生命,但是有时候出现舍利子的数量极其惊人,而且色彩和形态各异。 有的舍利子硬度极高,用铁锤敲打都锤砧俱陷,而丝毫无损。并不是常年吃斋和尚才会有,仅仅皈依一年往生的在家居士,焚化后遗骨上也出现了舍利子。 当然,也有一部分所谓的“舍利”确实是没有完全烧化的骨质和牙齿,但结石是不可能经受焚化后成为“舍利”的。有些人用科学的名义把舍利子解释成结石,其实这种欺骗公众的做法,这些所谓的科学其实是“伪科学”。 有的舍利子硬度极高,用铁锤敲打都锤砧俱陷,而丝毫无损。有的舍利还会长大、生小舍利,等等等等,这些岂是现代科学所能臆测的2002年二、三月间,安奉于陕西省扶风县法门寺的佛指舍利赴台湾巡礼,引起极大轰动。为确保佛指舍利在运送、巡礼期间的万无一失,两岸有关方面制定、采取了极其周密的安全保卫措施--在为坛城(放置佛指舍利的鎏金铜塔,重63公斤、高134厘米)安装了重达270公斤的防弹、防火、防震玻璃罩的同时,两岸佛教界400多人,乘两架专机随机护送;到台后,从机场到供奉佛指的台大体育馆,沿途10万信众恭迎,可谓万人空巷;安置佛指的舍利亭内装有红外线感应器和摄像头,可随时监控现场情况;与此同时,由大陆24名武僧、台湾120名金刚组成的护法团,与其他有关人员配合,组成4道屏障,24小时护卫。这一切,足见佛指舍利的珍贵和重要! 如此兴师动众、牵动人心的佛指舍利究竟为何物? 舍利是指佛祖释迦牟尼(即《西游记》中的如来佛)圆寂火化后留下的遗骨和珠状宝石样生成物。据传,2500年前释迦牟尼涅盘,弟子们在火化他的遗体时从灰烬中得到了一块头顶骨、两块骨、四颗牙齿、一节中指指骨舍利和84000颗珠状真身舍利子。佛祖的这些遗留物被信众视为圣物,争相供奉。在历史烟云的变幻中,绝大多数舍利被散失、湮没、毁坏。不幸中的万幸,1987年在法门寺的地宫中发现了许多唐代古物,这颗世界上惟一的佛指舍利即在其中。出土时,佛指舍利用五重宝函包装着,高40.3毫米,重16.2克,其色略黄,稍有裂纹和斑点。据史料记载,唐时,该舍利“长一寸二分,上齐下折,高下不等,三面俱平,一面稍高,中有隐痕,色白如雨稍青,细密而泽,髓穴方大,上下俱通”。所记与实物吻合,只是颜色因受液体千年浸泡变得微黄了。 在上述几种舍利中,珠状舍利子的生成至今是个谜。这种舍利子并非虚无缥缈的传说之物,因为在现代修行的佛教人士当中,圆寂火化后,也曾有此现象产生,尽管个例罕见。笔者手头有《今晚报》1994年7月20日摘自《江南晚报》的一则报道:苏州灵岩山寺82岁的法因法师圆寂火化后,获五色舍利无数,晶莹琉璃一块,且牙齿不坏。尤为奇特的是,火化后其舌根依然完整无损,色呈铜金色,坚硬如铁,敲击之,其声如钟,清脆悦耳,稀世罕见。 遗体火化,不仅是个燃烧的过程,其实也是个熔炼的过程。上述珠状舍利子是身体中的哪些成分熔铸而成的?我们普通人,死后火化时有些人是否也能生成些舍利子?有人分析,佛教界的一些修行之士之所以能够生成舍利子,与其长期素食和饮山泉水有关。菜蔬和山泉中富含各种矿物质,经几十年积累,人体各部含量很多,圆寂火化后便“炼制”出了舍利子。此说是否正确,有待进一步研究.参考资料:http://baike.baidu.com/lemma-php/dispose/view.php/153.htm
