Inordertoanswerthequestion,whatdoesthemusicofyourcountryrevealaboutthecultureofyourcountry?Iwouldliketointroducemyself.IamfromSpain,IwasborninaregioncalledCatalonia,concretelyinatownnearBarcelona.
Inmyopinion,themusictellsusalotofaculture,andsomeonecouldlearnalotfromthespanishculturejustlisteningtomusicinherroom.Butitisnoteasytocollectarepresentativesampleofthespanishmusic,becauseoftheenormousvariety,everyregionofSpainhasitsownmusic,thatsoundscompletelydifferentfromtherest,andevenforsomeregionstherearemorethanonetypeoftipicalmusic.ThisvarietyisveryimportantbecauseshowsthatSpainisacounryofcountries,eachonewithaparticularpersonality.
Itisveryinterestingtodiscoverthedifferentpersonalityofthespanishregions,justlisteninghowtheirmusicsoundslike.Forexample,inthesouthofSpainpeopleareknownforbeingveryfunnyandfortheirgoodsenseofhumor.InthispartofSpainyoucanfindmainlytwokindsofmusic:theFlamencoandtheSevillanas.Sevillashavecompletlythepersonalityofandalusianpeople,itisverycheerful.However,Flamencosoundssadanddeep.Thereasonisthatalthoughandalusianpeoplehaveagoodmood,theyliveinoneofthepoorestpartofSpain,andtheyexpresstheirpainthroughtheflamencomusic.
Finally,IwouldliketosaythatIpersonallyagreewiththestatementthatmusictellsussomethingaboutaculture,andwithmyexampleexampleIwantedtoillustrate,howmuchofthecultureofacountryitispossibletolearnjustlisteningtoitsmusic.
