"One world, One Dream"—北京2008奥运口号发布Slogan(口号,标语) of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games unveiled(公诸于众,揭开)“One world, One Dream”, (同一个世界,同一个梦想)the slogan of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games was unveiled in Beijing Workers’ Gymnasium(体育馆) on June 26, 2005 by Mr. Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. ""One World, One Dream," is an embodiment(体现,化身) of the wisdom(智慧) of hundreds of thousands of people. It expresses the firm belief of a great nation, with a long history of 5,000 years and on its way towards modernization(现代化), that is committed to peaceful development, a harmonious(和谐的,协调的) society and people’s happiness" said Liu Qi, president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG). International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge said in his congratulation(祝词,贺词) letter to the BOCOG on hearing of the slogan: "The Olympic Games are unique in their ability to attract the world’s attention, using sport to promote peace and understanding. "The IOC is delighted that BOCOG"s slogan for the 2008 Olympic Games has captured that Olympic spirit." The English translation of the slogan is distinctive in sentence structure. The two "one’s are perfectly used in parallel(平行地,并列地), and the words "World" and "Dream" form a good match(匹配,相称).
