Good morning, ladies and gentlemen:After so many lecturers talking about the responsibility, we are convinced that it is quite important to take on every responsibility to our world, our nation and our society. But have you ever thought about the responsibilities to ourselves?“Life is a do-it-yourself project”, a significant heading found in a book, explains why we should put the awareness of self-responsibility. Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and choices you make today.On the very birthday when I was 18, my parents told me: “You are an adult now. You have to be independent and responsible to yourself.” Yes, I have grown up. It is time for me to take on the responsibility to myself.However, it is always easier said than done. I still remember those puzzling days when selecting a major for my college study. Which shall I choose among the excessive majors? I am confused. “To be a teacher, because teacher possesses a great reputation.” my mum said. “To choose some majors related to chemistry or biology, ’cause you are a science student.” suggested by my cousin who is major in mechanical engineering. my auntie advised. “What about accounting? Every company needs accountants. It’s easy to get a job.”“ I don’t need suggestions. Please! Give me a decision!” I yelled. “It’s your own destiny. The choice----is yours.” That’s all my father said to me. He was right. The choice----is mine! It’s me, no one else, to choose my future, to decide my career, to take the responsibility to myself. After my deep consideration, I’ve made my own decision to choose Finance as my own major.Facing backwards, I made up my mind: to be self-responsible, I will always find the solutions rather than complaining the problems. To be self-responsible, I will treasure the frustration as a precious experience rather than crying for the past failure. To be self-responsible, I will refuse to shift off the duty, but stand out and say “I’m on it”. To be self-responsible, I will never think about the “have gone”, but the “will come”.So, take the self-responsibility, my dear friend, because that’s your life, your destiny!
