ON April 12, 1961, 27-year-old Yuri Gagarin of the former Soviet Union (前苏联) became a hero. He was the first human to go into space.
Last Tuesday was the 50th anniversary (纪念日) of this event.
Fifty years ago, people were nervous about the trip because no one had been to space before. But do you know what Gagarin was doing just before the flight? He was making sure that he had enough sausage (香肠) to eat on the train trip back home to Moscow after the space flight was over. ?
The new park will be especially Chinese.
IN a few years, you may have the chance to meet the real Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and other Disney cartoon characters. Shanghai Disneyland began building on April 8.
Shanghai Disneyland is Disney’s first theme park on the Chinese mainland (中国大陆). Built on a 3.9 square kilometer (平方公里) area, it will have the world’s biggest “Magic Kingdom” castle (城堡) and a large central lake.
