because it is very cold outside. The bed and table are also made of snow. The door of the snow house is
very small. The warm air inside cannot get out easily and the cold air cannot come in. The lamp is
important. It does three things. It warms the house,it gives light and it cooks the food. Inside the house
the Eskimos still wear warm clothes. The clothes are thick and warm.

Most Eskimos do not live in big villages. Often only a few families live together. They look for

all. The boys grow up quickly and go with their fathers and look for food. The girl stay at home
and help their mothers.
Some Eskimos live in big villages or near big towns. Because of this, their way of life is
different from that of the other Eskimos. They can read and write. In Greenland some of the
newspapers and booksare in the Eskimo language, which used almost thesame writing as the
English language. The Eskimo language is not easy to learn. It uses very long words.These words
have many parts. About fifty thousand people speak the Eskimolanguage. The language of all
the Eskimos are almost the same.
