Subject: OPM Item Master and Inventory Item Master
OPM Item Master and Inventory Item Master
We are implementing OPM. Please let me know the relationship between the OPM and Inventory Item master. I know that the Item created in OPM Item master shows up in discrete. Here are few questions I have:
1)Inventory Item master table (MTL_SYSTEMS_ITEMS) has lot more fields than the OPM Item master table(IC_ITEM_MST. Pl let me know if these two tables can be used together. We have lot of extra fields to map and need the additional information like the catalogs that the Inventory item master table offers
2) Please let me know how will the transaction will be handled when using both these tables. Will the inventory transactions show up in OPM and Inventory ??
3) Please let me know how does the OM module function by having data at both places.

Hi Pradeep,
1)Why OPM Items are reflecting in Discrete?
Ans:If you defined OPM Item system will take the Item from OPM Item Master for your OPM Modules like Formulator,Production Supervisor,Process Planning etc........But if you are using the OPM Item for Purchase requisition,Purchase order system will take from Discrete Item Master.Same for OM also.If you are entering any OPM Item in Sales Order system will take from Discrete Item master.
Note:No Attribute Control in OPM Item Master.For Attribute control for PO AND OM System will validate with Discrete Item Master though it is a OPM Item.

Hi Pradeep,
Item only reflect in Discrete.But all the Inventory transactions you have to see in OPM only.Whybecause Base Item is OPM.So whenever you are doing transactions in OM you are picking the material from OPM inventory not from discrete subinventory.Like the same way for PO also,you recieve the material through PO Rciepts but you are updating in OPM.So you have to see the transaction in OPM only.
