kind指性质相同,且有极相似之物质,在分类中可作为一类者。Whatkindofcakedoyoulikebest?你最喜欢哪一种饼?sort可与kind互换使用,但较为含混,有时只表示大概此种而已。Sort有时有轻蔑的意味,相反kind要庄重得多。sort有贬义色彩kind中性kind表按客观标准分类的种类,sort则表示并无严格范畴的,较泛的一类,在口语中及非正式文体中不必做此区分。在表示轻蔑含义时,用sort而不用kind。
